To use TelePort on your Macintosh, your Macintosh must:
• be running System 6.0.5 or later
• have at least 2 Mb of RAM installed
• have at least 1 Mb of free space on your hard disk
• support the Apple Desktop Bus™ (ADB)*
* All Macintosh computers to date, except for the 128K Mac, the 512K Mac,
and the Mac Plus, support ADB.
If your computer is using an older System or has only 1 Mb of RAM,
upgrade your Macintosh before installing and using TelePort/FullFax.
Warning!
=========
You may cause permanent damage to your TelePort if you
connect it to a digital PBX system. If you are using your TelePort
at home, there will be no problem. If you are using your TelePort
at work, make sure you have analog telephone lines before connecting
a phone line to TelePort.
System Installation
==========================
The TelePort software is in a compressed format and needs to be
decompressed before it is installed. To decompress the software,
do the following:
• Double click on the "Open Me - TelePort Software" icon.
• Select the topmost folder on your hard disk as the destination folder. Remember that folder name as you will need to find it when you return to Finder.
The decompression may take a few minutes. After it is complete,
you will have a folder in your topmost folder called "TelePort Software".
Open this folder and proceed with the installation process as described
in the manual. For those who can't stand to read manuals, do the following:
Users who are upgrading from TelePort 2.0
If you are upgrading from from a previous version of TelePort 2.0, you will probably NOT want to drag the “TelePort Files” folder into your system folder as described below unless you want to start fresh. Performing this step will remove all previously saved faxes and custom cover sheets you might have created or saved.
System 6.0x Users
• Drag "TelePort", "TelePort/Fax", and "TelePort Files" into your system
folder.
• Double click on "Fax Center", and install it into your System file. If you
do not know how to do this, please refer to the description of the Font/DA
Mover in your Apple Macintosh System Software Manual.
• Select “Shut Down” under the “Special” menu, turn off your computer, plug in TelePort, and then restart your computer.
System 7.0x Users
• Drag "TelePort", "TelePort/Fax", "TelePort Files", and "Fax Center" into
your system folder.
• Select “Shut Down” under the “Special” menu, turn off your computer, plug in TelePort, and then restart your computer.
Personal Scanning Service
========================
Your TelePort purchase includes a free Personal Scanning Service.
Global Village will scan your signature(s) and simple logo, up to 4 items
total, and return them to you on disk for use in your fax documents.
• Locate the postage paid Personal Scanning Service mailer
(included in the TelePort package).
• Detach the perforated flap.
• On the backside of the flap, sign your name. You can include up to 4
versions of your signature or, in place of one signature, attach a simple
company logo. Please do not send any large art (greater than 2" by 2").
• Place the flap in the envelope and mail it to Global Village.
You will receive your original and scanned signatures within 4 weeks.
